Joliet Police: 2 Arrested With Loaded Guns, Plus Open Alcohol

JOLIET, IL — A 29-year-old man and a 21-year-old Joliet man were arrested early Saturday morning following a police chase on the city's east side. Joliet Police say the pair had two loaded guns in their car as well as an open bottle of liquor. Cameron Moffett, 21, was put in Will County's Jail on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a gun by a felon, unlawful possession of ammunition and obstructing a peace officer.
Devin Montgomery, 29, of Joliet, was charged with obstructing a peace officer, having no FOID card, unlawful possession of ammunition and aggravated unlawful use of a gun by a felon.
The events that led to the police chase began around 2:35 a.m. on Saturday, August 3. A car heading east along 5th Avenue blew the stop sign at Gardner Street, according to police. "Officers initiated their emergency lights and sirens to have the vehicle pull over," Joliet Police said. "The vehicle eventually pulled over in the 100 block of Linden Avenue."

At that point, according to Joliet Police, Montgomery and Moffett jumped out of the car and tried to out run the patrol officers. Police say they caught Montgomery, the driver, behind a house in the 100 block of 5th Avenue. Moffett was caught in the 100 block of Linden Avenue, police said.
Police say they found one loaded gun on the driver's side floorboard, an open bottle of liquor and another loaded gun on the passenger side floorboard.

Will County Jail records indicate that Mongomery resides in the 800 block of Joliet's Julia Avenue. His alleged partner in crime, Moffett, lives in the 100 block of Joliet's 5th Avenue.
