Joliet Police Name Four New Deputy Chiefs
Positions are part of a new command structure for the department.

Joliet City Manager Jim Hock on Friday announced the appointment of four new Joliet deputy police chiefs.
The appointments come months after the city council approved a new command structure within the police department that eliminates the position of commander while creating four new deputy chief posts.
The new commanders are Al Roechner, deputy police chief of investigations; Edward Gregory, deputy police chief of operations; Tab Jensen, deputy police chief of administration; and Brian Dupuis, deputy police chief of technical services.

Roechner is a 23-year veteran of the Joliet Police Department and has served in ranks including patrol officer, sergeant, lieutenant and, most recently, commander of operations. He is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command and the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police, the city said in a press release. Roechner is also the recipient of numerous awards and recognition, including two Life Saving awards.
Gregory has been a member of the Joliet Police Department for the past 24 years, holding positions including patrol officer, sergeant and, most recently, watch commander of the day shift. A recipient of numerous awards and recognition including a Life Saving award, Gregory attended Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command and the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police. Gregory served in the United States Marine Corps, as well as the Illinois Army National Guard.

Jensen has been a member of the Joliet Police Department for the past 23 years, having served in various positions within the department including patrol officer, sergeant, lieutenant and, most recently, captain of operations. A graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command, Jensen is the recipient of numerous awards and recognition, including the Award of Heroism.
Dupuis has been a member of the Joliet Police Department for the past 24 years. He has held a variety of positions within the department, including patrol officer, sergeant and lieutenant. He most recently served as acting commander of the investigations division. Dupuis is a recipient of numerous awards and recognition, most notably a Life Saving award, and attended Northwestern University’s Police Staff and Command.
