$160K Cash, 1,500 Grams Of Cocaine, 3 Arrests: JPD

The multi-year investigation led to Joliet polcie's seizure of over 1,500 grams of cocaine and over $160,000 in cash, Joliet police say.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department announced on Friday that a multi-year criminal investigation has led to the recovery of $160,000 cash, more than 1,500 grams of cocaine and the arrests of three people: Victor Gutierrez-Barajas, 32, of Rockdale, Tomas Aguirre, 41, of Joliet, and Consuelo Aguirre-Recendiz, 52, of Homer Glen.

The Rockdale resident was arrested in the 1200 block of Belleview Avenue and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver, two counts of unlawful calculated criminal drug conspiracy and three counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance.

Tomas Aguirre arrested in the 1300 block of Kenmore Avenue and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of controlled substances with intent to deliver, two counts of unlawful calculated criminal drug conspiracy and having a false/secret compartment in a motor vehicle.

Consuelo Aguirre-Recendiz of Homer Glen was arrested in the 13000 block of South King Road and charged with money laundering.

All three are now in the Will County Jail, according to Joliet police.

“Due to the strong collaborative effort between the Joliet Police Department and our federal law enforcement partners, our streets are safer from the scourge of narcotics. I applaud the tireless work of these men and women," Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans said in Friday's news release.
