Joliet Public Schools District 86 Names New Superintendent
Dr. Theresa Rouse will start her new position July 1.

JOLIET, IL — After an extensive national superintendent search, the Joliet Public Schools District 86 Board of School Inspectors named Dr. Theresa Rouse as their new superintendent by a unanimous vote at a special board meeting Wednesday evening. Dr. Rouse will start July 1.
Dr. Rouse has been Superintendent of King City Union School District in King City, California since 2012. Prior to that she spent five years at the Santa Cruz County Office of Education in Santa Cruz, California where she served in a variety of roles including Associate Superintendent of Educational Services. Dr. Rouse has over 29 years of educational experience. She will succeed Dr. Charles Coleman who is retiring after serving as superintendent since 2011.

“We are delighted to have Dr. Rouse as our new superintendent,” said Board of School Inspector President Gwendolyn Ulmer, “Dr. Rouse has a wealth of experience working in a school district similar to District 86. Her experience, enthusiasm, and commitment to students and staff will be a terrific asset.”

Dr. Rouse has a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in Phoenix, Arizona and a Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.
She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. She will be employed under a three-year contract with a base salary of $195,000.
