JOLIET, IL — It's been more than a month since police say 22-year-old Joliet resident Anthony Casterberry floored the gas of a Mitsubishi Endeavor on Theodore Street, trying to flee Crest Hill officers during a late night traffic stop. According to prosecutors, Casterberry kept driving faster and faster and eventually lost control, striking a car driven by 60-year-old Suos Khloth on West Jefferson Street, killing the Joliet motorist, court documents show.

"Said defendant, while acting in a reckless manner, performed an act likely to cause death or great bodily harm to some individual, in that he drove a … Mitsubishi Endeavor upon Jefferson Street east of Midland Avenue in Joliet … at a speed which was in excess of 20 miles per hour over the posted speed limit of 35 miles per hour and he did not drive his vehicle … entirely within a single lane while on Jefferson Street, causing his motor vehicle to strike the motor vehicle operated by Suos Khloth, a Jaguar X6, thereby causing the death of Suos Khloth," the complaint states.

Then, after striking the motorist he didn't know, Casterberry jumped out of his vehicle and ran off into the night, trying to avoid being captured by Crest Hill and Joliet police, authorities said. During the past few weeks, Casterberry remained a fugitive, however, last week, authorities in the state of Tennessee located Casterberry and put him into their jail.
