Joliet Red Lobster Sued Over Broom Incident
Should Red Lobster fight this lawsuit?

JOLIET, IL - We all know the television commercial jingle for Red Lobster. It goes: "Red Lobster for the seafood lover in you." This week, James Pruitt filed a civil lawsuit against the Red Lobster restaurant near the Louis Joliet Mall at 2950 Plainfield Road. But his beef is not over the restaurant's food. Instead, it's about his customer experience inside the Joliet business on May 31, 2016.
"On the aforementioned date, Plaintiff was lawfully on the premises as a prospective customer," states the plaintiff's lawyer, Glen Curran of the Chicago law firm of Alberts, Curran & Eiler.
Pruitt's lawsuit alleges that "the premises was and remained in a dangerous condition because a push broom was left standing in a walkway used by customers" and "where the push broom was located was dark and not well lit.

"On the aforementioned date, a host of the restaurant was leading Plaintiff to his seat when Plaintiff tripped over the push broom, fell and became injured," Pruitt's lawyer asserted. "... employees of the defendant created the condition and otherwise knew or should have known of both its existence and the danger that it posed to customers traversing the restaurant."
Pruitt, his lawyer contends, "sustained severe and permanent injuries and was and will be hindered and prevented from attending to his usual duties and affairs of life ...

"Wherefore, plaintiff James Pruitt prays for the entry of judgment against (Red Lobster) in an amount in excess of $50,000, the costs of this suit and any other relief that this court finds to be just. Plaintiff demands trial by jury."
