Joliet Restaurant Available On Real Estate Market: Joliet's City Center Partnership

JOLIET, IL — A restaurant and bar that opened in downtown Joliet in 2023 apparently faces a dismal future now that Emmanuel Lopez and his Joliet City Center Partnership shared out a real estate company's video over the weekend. The video encourages people to take over the property for the Azul Celeste Bar & Grill at 307 N. Chicago St. Azul Celeste is across the street from the Will County Government Offices.

"Is this where Azul Celeste is? I hope not because my family and I LOVE this place!! Their food is AMAZING especially the steak and shrimp tacos," one man posted on the Joliet City Center Partnership Facebook site.

According to the real estate company video from Herencia Residential and Commercial, "imagine opening your restaurant in one of downtown Joliet's most recognizable locations. Full commercial kitchen. Beautiful modern bar. Private banquet/event space. Located on Historic Route 66. Offered at $23 square foot gross lease."

According to the Joliet real estate company, "this isn't just commercial space. It's an opportunity to build your next successful business."

In 2023, Joliet Patch reported that prior to the opening of Azul Celeste, the property was vacant in recent years, but in the past, it served as the St. Vincent De Paul thrift store. Joliet Patch reported that the new Mexican restaurant and bar wanted to be known for its steak and shrimp tacos.

As for the drinks, Azul Celeste wants to be known for serving quality tequilas, micheladas, Bloody Marys and margaritas, as well as Palomas, which are a tequila based cocktail.

"We're concentrating mostly on people that work around the downtown area to bring the business on this side of Chicago Street back to life," the owners told Joliet Patch in 2023.

Azul Celeste featured five large screen TVs. "We want people to have a nice place to come in and watch their favorite sports. It's for everybody. The music is for everybody."
