Joliet to Resume Yard Waste Pickup April 1
Yard waste will not be collected in plastic bags of any type or size or in containers larger than 33 gallons.

The City of Joliet and Waste Management will resume collection of yard waste effective Friday, April 1, according to a release from the city.
Residents desiring yard waste collection service are reminded that yard waste must be placed in permanent-type, 33-gallon refuse containers which are identified with a “Yard Waste Only” or “Y” sticker, or in 32-gallon disposable Kraft paper bags (no “Yard Waste Only” or “Y” sticker necessary), according to the release.

Yard waste set out for collection in permanent-type containers must have a florescent “Yard Waste Only” or “Y” sticker on the container and be clearly visible from the street, the release said. These “Yard Waste Only” or “Y” stickers are available, free of charge, at all Jewel stores in the City of Joliet and the Joliet Municipal Building at the Information Desk, according to the release.
Brush and branches may either be placed in the above mentioned permanent-type containers or Kraft paper bags or may be tied in bundles not exceeding 4 feet in length nor weighing more than 50 pounds per bundle, the release said.

No “Yard Waste Only” sticker is necessary for bundled yard waste. Yard waste containers must contain only yard waste. State law prohibits collection of mixed loads of yard waste and other refuse.
