Victim Identified In Fatal Joliet Shooting

The Joliet Police Department urges anyone with information about Thursday night's killing to call 815-724-3020.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Police Department is investigating the city's first homicide of July. At 7:52 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a shooting in the 200 block of Lincoln Street. On the porch, officers found a 24-year-old man suffering multiple gunshots.

The man, identified Saturday as Vonta D. Perry of Joliet, was rushed by ambulance to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

The Will County Coroner's Office said Perry died of multiple gunshot wounds.
