"A core mission of any good orchestra, including our Joliet Symphony, is to serve the community. The JSO does this by offering a wide array of performances throughout our season—from classical masterworks, to our family concert, and concerto competition—and providing an artistic outlet for community members and students alike. The Concerto Competition is held every other year, and allows us to shine a spotlight on the wonderful musical gifts of those selected to perform with us,” says JSO Music Director, Dianna Fiore.
JSO is a 50 plus-member orchestra founded in 2005 as a university-community partnership. JSO performs varied works for orchestra and is open to USF students, faculty, and staff, as well as members of the area community. Musicians reside in 17 different communities surrounding Joliet, including Shorewood, Plainfield, Lockport, Morris, Naperville and Tinley Park.
