Joliet Teenage Murder Victim Identified

Joliet police have made no arrests in the case.

JOLIET, IL — The 17-year-old boy who died of multiple gunshot wounds shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday has been identified by authorities as Tyrone Portis of Joliet. Portis was in a car with three other people when a gunman in another vehicle opened fire on the city's west side. One person who lives in the area said she heard between 10 to 12 gunshots at 3:05 a.m.

The homicide happened in the 700 block of East Palladium Drive, which is near the intersection of Black Road on the city's west side.

Joliet Police said that a 17-year-old girl in the car with Portis was also shot, and she was in serious but stable condition Sunday at St. Joe's hospital.

As of Tuesday morning, Joliet Police detectives had not made any arrests in the case.
