Joliet Thief Stole From Menards And Walmart: Complaint
George Shamley is charged with retail theft in Joliet and in New Lenox.

NEW LENOX, IL - A 61-year-old man who lives on Joliet's far east side remains locked away from society at the Will County Jail after being charged with committing several retail thefts in New Lenox and in Joliet. George Shamley, 800 block of Mills Street, has remained incarcerated since Oct. 5 and his bail was set at $100,000.
One of the criminal complaints states that Shamley entered the New Lenox Walmart store back on Aug. 17 and that he stole "a 50-inch Vizio television set, the full retail value of which exceeds $300." The same complaint includes a second count of retail theft, noting for the court that Shamley was convicted in 2015, also in Will County, of the crime of theft.
In addition to his criminal case from New Lenox, Shamley also faces two more retail theft charges filed by the Joliet Police Department. On Aug. 27 in Joliet, Shamley entered the Menards on West Jefferson Street where he allegedly stole "power tools, the full retail value of which exceeds $300 with the intention of depriving the merchant permanently of the possession, use or benefit of such merchandise without paying the full retail value ..."

As of October 18, Shamley remained in county custody, unable to post bond.
