Angel Contreras Drove Drunk On Revoked License: JPD

JOLIET, IL — Joliet police are providing more details surrounding Sunday's early morning arrest of Angel Contreras, the 36-year-old Joliet Township Supervisor who has been one of the rising stars in the Will County Democrat Party.
Contreras spent about 12 hours in the Will County Jail on Father's Day after being booked into the Will County Jail around 4:45 a.m.
Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English said that Contreras has been charged with aggravated DUI, DUI, driving while license revoked, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper lighting and improper lane usage.

Joliet officers pulled over Contreras at 2:24 a.m. Sunday as Contreras was driving a Honda Ridgeline near Western Avenue and Wilcox Street. Contreras was driving in the middle of the night while using any lights and "the vehicle was swerving out of the lane of traffic," police noted.
"While speaking to officers, Contreras exhibited signs of alcohol impairment," English stated.

He said that Contreras exited the vehicle when requested and when officers requested that Contreras conduct sobriety tests, Contreras refused to provide an answer.
At the time of the arrest, it was determined that Contreras’ driver’s license is currently revoked, and he was unable to provide proof of vehicle insurance, Joliet police noted.
Contreras makes at least $83,000 to represent the voters of Joliet Township as their Supervisor.
Joliet police noted that Contreras now lives at 427 Buell Ave.
