Vice Lords Associate Faces Attempted Murder Charge: Sheriff

No further information can be released due to a court ordered seal, the Will County Sheriff's Office announced Friday night.

JOLIET, IL — The Will County Sheriff's Office on Friday night said that Joliet Vice Lords associate 20-year-old David Grijalva was captured on charges of attempted murder and several other felonies. On Friday, the sheriff's office teamed up with the U.S. marshals to arrest Grijalva during a raid at a house in the 900 block of Joliet's Woods Avenue.

Will County announced that Grijalva was wanted on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a gun, aggravated discharge of a gun and two counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Bail has been set at $3 million and "Grijalva is a known associate of the Vice Lords, a Joliet area street gang, and is known to carry firearms," sheriff's officials announced.

After a couple of days of surveillance, the Will County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. marshals located Grijalva in a basement bedroom, and he was arrested without any issues, police said.

"Due to the nature of the offenses and the ongoing investigation, no further information can be released due to a court ordered seal of the records," Will County police revealed. "Grijalva is currently being housed at the Will County Adult Detention Facility for the aforementioned charges, pending an initial court appearance."

Grijalva was booked into the Will County Jail at 5:07 p.m. Friday, logs show.
