Joliet Victim Hurt When Naperville Woman Backs Over Him: JPD

Jessica Diaz backed her Chevrolet Traverse into the victim, causing him to fall to the ground, Joliet police announced.

JOLIET, IL — A 35-year-old woman from Naperville spent time in Will County's Jail this week after Joliet police say Jessica Diaz used her sports utility vehicle as a weapon, backing over a man in the 800 block of North Hickory Street after an argument.

Around 10 p.m. Tuesday, Joliet police went to the scene and put the Naperville woman in handcuffs. She's being charged with aggravated battery, violation of an order of protection and domestic battery.

Diaz already was the respondent of an order of protection taken out against her by the man.

On Tuesday night, Diaz drove from Naperville, all the way to Hickory Street in Joliet, and she had an argument with the man.

"While the victim walked near the rear of Diaz’s vehicle near the intersection, Diaz was in the driver’s seat and backed her Chevrolet Traverse into the victim, causing him to fall to the ground."

The victim suffered a leg injury and was treated by Joliet Fire Department paramedics, but he refused to go to the hospital.

Diaz was let out of the Will County Jail around 8 p.m. on Wednesday after posting 10 percent of her $10,000 bail. The Naperville woman lives on Gateshead Drive in Joliet.
