Joliet Walmart Nabs Convicted Shoplifter: Complaint

The Joliet man was previously convicted just two years ago of committing the crime of retail theft, here in Will County.

JOLIET, IL — A 26-year-old Joliet man was arrested by the Joliet Police Department early Monday morning after authorities say he was caught stealing merchandise at the Walmart store in the 2400 block of West Jefferson Street.

Shawn O'Neill, who lives in the 1600 block of Theodore Street, was taken away in handcuffs and booked into the Will County Jail shortly before 3 a.m.

According to Monday's criminal complaint, O'Neill has been charged with felony retail theft. He is accused of stealing aerosol dust cans. Prosecutors indicated that O'Neill was previously convicted of committing retail theft here in Will County in 2018.

O'Neill was scheduled to appear before a Will County judge on Monday afternoon for a bail hearing.
