Joliet West Choir Named Grand Champions at Music in the Parks

The Joliet West High School Concert Choir was recently named Choral Grand Champion at the Music in the Parks program on May 16 at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL.

The West Concert Choir received a score of 97.25 for their performance of “Stars” by the Latvian composer Eriks Esenvalds and “There Was a Time” by Eric William Barnum.

“The Concert Choir has consistently shown the ability this year to give a genuine, open, and honest performance where they show a dedication to the communication of text,” said Tim DeBoer, Director of Vocal Music at Joliet West. “The pieces we performed at contest allowed the choir the ability to express meaning through poetry. I am so proud of this year’s choir.”
