Joliet West High School Students Compete in Welding Competition, Koerner Places Second

Joliet West High School STEM Academy welding students competed in the 4th Annual Welding Competition.

Joliet West High School STEM Academy welding students Ricardo Cardenas, Steven Koerner, Jose Patino, Anthony Rodden, and Zachary Bartels competed in the 4th Annual Welding Competition sponsored by Simeon Career Academy last weekend. The competition, held at the Pipefitters Union Hall 597, provided hands-on welding experience, testing student's skills and precision.

At the competition, Steven Koerner placed 2nd out of over 50 students who competed in this event. Koerner received a $200 award for his achievement.

"These guys did an excellent job and I’m very proud of their hard work and accomplishment," said West Welding Instructor Joe Contreras.
