Joliet White Castle Faces Civil Lawsuit From Rathbun, Cservenyak & Kozol: Plaintiff Seeks $50,000 Or Greater
Last week's lawsuit names White Castle Systems, White Castle and 1801 Jefferson Development LLLC as the defendants.

JOLIET, IL — The Joliet law firm of Rathbun, Cservenyak and Kozol has filed a civil lawsuit against the Joliet White Castle fast-food restaurant at 1803 W. Jefferson St. in connection with an incident that happened back on March 16, 2024.
According to the filing at the Will County Courthouse, the plaintiff is Kyle Lynn Webb-Massey and the White Castle owned, managed, maintained or controlled on the premises.
Webb-Massey contends that she exercised ordinary and due care as a patrol lawfully on the premises of the Joliet White Castle when she "tripped, stumbled and or fell due to encountering an unreasonable risk of harm in the form of an uneven defective sidewalk/unmarked curb in an area where the defendant knew customers would be present and walk," argues Rathbun, Cservenyak & Kozol.

Her lawsuit accuses White Castle of several instances of careless and negligence acts and or omissions including having "Allowed or permitted an uneven, defective sidewalk/unmarked curb in an area where the defendant knew customers would be present and walk to exist although the defendant knew, or should have known, said condition was an unreasonable risk of harm to invitees lawfully on the premises," the court documents note.
The lawsuit indicates that Webb-Massey sustained "severe and permanent injuries, both externally and internally, and was and will be hindered and prevented from attending to her usual duties and affairs and has lost, and in the future will lose, the value of time as aforementioned."
