Joliet Woman, 28, Attacks Roommate, Pulls Her Hair, After Being Accused Of Theft: Police

JOLIET, IL — A 28-year-old Joliet woman remains in the Will County Jail following this week's early morning arrest in connection with allegations that she tried to strangle a woman and caused damage to the victim's guitar. Thursday's criminal complaint accuses Haley Ocrotty of aggravated battery and criminal property damage.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, at 5:11 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to an apartment in the 400 block of Bridge Street for a disturbance. Police said that during an altercation, Ocrotty allegedly choked her female roommate and pulled her hair after the victim confronted her about a suspected theft inside the apartment.

The criminal complaint indicates that the damage to the victim's guitar does not exceed $500.

Ocrotty was still at the scene and was taken into custody without incident. She had an active Will County arrest warrant for failure to appear in court on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that Ocrotty has been kept in the Will County Jail, her jail logs reflect.
