Joliet Woman Charged With Setting Up Pal For Carjacking

The woman lured the man to her home and he was carjacked in her driveway, police said.

A Joliet woman allegedly had a friend drive her home so she could set him up for a carjacking in her driveway, police said.

Jessica Islas, 22, of 526 Abe St. was charged with robbery and criminal trespass to a vehicle in connection with the May carjacking, police said.

After Islas and her pal reached her driveway, a mystery man leaped into the back seat and pummeled the driver in the back of the head, police said.

The carjacker snatched away the driver’s wallet, got him out of the car and took off, police said.

A teenage girl was later caught trying to sell the car, police said. She was reportedly charged as a juvenile with the possession of a stolen vehicle. The man who ambushed the driver remains unidentified and on the loose. Detectives believe the man may have been a boyfriend of Islas.

Islas was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon and booked into the Will County jail.
