Joliet Woman Tries To Run Man Over Twice, Causing Him To Strike His Own Windshield: Joliet Police

JOLIET, IL — It does not happen a lot, but Joliet police officers have responded to a number of incidents in recent years involving people accused of turning their ignition key and trying to run over someone they are angry with. Another situation happened this week before sundown.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, 48-year-old Kimberly Linsey was placed into custody and charged with domestic battery and aggravated battery.

English explained that around 7 p.m. on Monday, his fellow officers responded to a residence in the 1400 block of Highland Avenue for a domestic disturbance. A man and his girlfriend had an argument and Linsey allegedly attempted to leave the residence in the man's vehicle, the Joliet police found.

"It is alleged that the man stood behind the vehicle in an attempt to prevent her from leaving, at which time Linsey allegedly backed the vehicle into him. During the incident, it is believed the man struck the vehicle's rear windshield," English relayed.

And that wasn't the end of it.

English pointed out how after the man moved to the front of the vehicle, Linsey allegedly drove forward, striking him a second time.

"During that encounter, it is alleged the man struck the
vehicle's front windshield with a garden tool," English revealed.

The man was evaluated and treated at the scene by
Joliet Fire Department paramedics but declined transportation to a hospital.

As for Linsey, she was placed into custody without incident and charged with domestic battery and aggravated battery. She was processed and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

The jail logs indicate that Linsey remains incarcerated and she may find out whether she will remain in the jail or get to go home as a result of Wednesday afternoon's detention hearing in Courtroom 202.
