JOLIET, IL — One of the area's largest holiday celebration events is quickly approaching. Joliet's annual Light Up the Holiday Festival and Parade takes place the day after Thanksgiving. That means it's Friday, Nov 29.

Where is it? Downtown Joliet along North Chicago Street.

When is it? 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29.

What are the daylong activities? There's a Fantastic Fun Fair inside the Joliet Area Historical Museum's auditorium. Other activities are at places including: Joliet's Public Library, Jitters Coffeehouse, Chicken-N-Spice, Chevere Latin Cafe, JJC's City Center Campus, etc.

When is the Christmas tree lighting ceremony? The switch to turn on the lights for the Christmas tree at Van Buren Plaza gets flipped at 5:15 p.m.

When is the big parade? 5:30 p.m.
