Joliet's First Ever PrideFest Set For Bicentennial Park

The weekend summer event will go from noon to 4 p.m. June 29.

JOLIET, IL — At Tuesday night's Joliet City Council meeting, city officials welcomed organizers of the city's first-ever Joliet PrideFest. The inaugural event will take place Saturday, June 29, at the city's Bicentennial Park, 201 W. Jefferson St.

As of Wednesday morning, more than 300 people said they are going and another 1,700 people indicated they were interested in attending.

"This is the inaugural Joliet PrideFest. It is a family-friendly event for the entire Joliet community to come together to celebrate Pride month," its Facebook page proclaims.

The weekend summer event will go from noon to 4 p.m. and feature an LGBTQ history display, special pride selfie spots, face painting, touch-a-truck with the city of Joliet, local musicians, food trucks, the Joliet Mermaid and the Scales and Tales Traveling Zoo featuring Zena the sloth, among the many activities.
