Joliet's Light Up The Holidays Parade Makes Comeback

Back in 2019, several thousand people flocked to downtown Joliet Friday night for the hour-plus parade.

In 2019, Joliet celebrated its 22nd annual Light Up the Holiday Festival and Parade. Now it's making a comeback Nov. 26.

JOLIET, IL — Because of the contagious and deadly coronavirus pandemic, Joliet officials chose to cancel last November's Light Up The Holidays parade in downtown Joliet. The parade is always held the day after Thanksgiving.

After a one-year shutdown, Joliet's enormously popular parade, which typically draws around 10,000 people to gather along North Chicago Street, will return Friday, Nov. 26.

The event will include the ceremonial tree lighting with Mayor Bob O'Dekirk at the Van Buren Plaza at 5:15 p.m. The parade starts at 5:30 p.m.
