Joseph V. Curcio, 84, of Joliet, Illinois, passed away on April 26, 2026, in Joliet. He was born on February 27, 1942, in Bridgeport, CT, the son of the late August and Rose (nee Manjoney) Curcio.

Mr. Curcio received his BS from the University of Connecticut in Engineering and his MS and PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.
Mr. Curcio honorably served his country as a Captain Grade O-3 in the U.S. Army at the Combat Development Command Institute of Nuclear Studies at Ft Bliss, TX. This experience reflected his sense of duty and discipline.

Over the course of his professional life, Mr. Curcio established himself in the field of chemical engineering and related industries. He was formerly employed at Northern Petroleum Chemicals in Morris, Illinois and then at Sunoco, Inc in Colton, CA. He later became the Business Manager of the chemical company M.F. Good in Riverside, California, demonstrating both technical expertise and entrepreneurial spirit. Most recently, before his retirement, he devoted his skills to writing computer programming for the Bible League, combining his professional talents with his personal interests.
Mr. Curcio’s hobbies centered on computers, technology, and music; he found enjoyment and challenge in anything related to computers and had a fondness for attending musical performances, especially the opera in Chicago. He will be remembered as a wise and creative individual whose intellect, ingenuity, and thoughtful presence left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Meggan Curcio; his son, Joseph Curcio; and his grandchildren, Olivia, Gage, Sofia, and Luca.
He is preceded by his parents and brother, August F. Curcio, Jr.
A Memorial Gathering for Joseph Curcio will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 5:00 p.m.Military honors will be held under the auspices of the United States Army.As it was his request, cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Lyric Opera of Chicago.
