Ranisah Brown, Joliet Central Class of 2000, is a living testament that learning can be a worthwhile and lifelong journey. After receiving multiple degrees from the University of St. Francis, Brown now dedicates her time transforming lives as a social worker in the healthcare field. She was promoted in 2014, has received a leadership award, and was acknowledged by the state of Illinois in 2019 for excellent documentation.
Brown attended Eisenhower Academy, Dirksen Jr. High School, and graduated from Joliet Central High School in 2000. While at Central, she was involved in Drama and the National Honor Society.

Brown always knew she wanted to use her people skills as well as her ever-expanding knowledge to help people in need. She went on to study at Northern University, University St. Francis - Bachelor/Master of Social Work, University of St. Francis- Forensic Social Work, and the University of St. Francis- Master’s in Health Administration.
When asked what advice she would give to current high school students, Brown said, “I encourage to understand who you are. Talk with your family and high school professionals. Ask questions and research what you are interested in engaging in. Always work on goals and start and end your day positive. Remember some things may seem hard or frustrating but it doesn't last forever. There is sunshine at the end of the tunnel. Remember you rock and are loved! You can be anything you want but everything takes hard work and dedication.”
