Kendall Ridge Gets Wish: Fire Damaged House Razed

This Joliet house on Kendall Ridge Boulevard was destroyed by a January fire. The house had been in foreclosure.

JOLIET, IL — Two months after a late night fire destroyed a Joliet house at 1836 Kendall Ridge Boulevard, demolition contractors have removed the safety and health hazard from the city's far west side subdivision.

Last week, Gould Brothers Excavating & Demolition in Joliet demolished the fire-damaged one-story, wood-frame structure in the Kendall Ridge subdivision near County Line Road.

The house was already the subject of a bank foreclosure at the time of the Jan. 17 fire, city officials said. In recent weeks, neighbors showed up at a Joliet City Council meeting and expressed their anger and frustration with city officials because nothing was being done to speed up the demolition process.
