Knife Held Against Woman's Neck In Bedroom: Joliet Police

At 2:48 a.m., Joliet police were sent to a house in the 200 block of Illinois Street for a domestic disturbance. Julian Nunez was arrested.

JOLIET, IL — A 23-year-old resident is no longer in custody after Joliet police say Julien Nunez got angry at a woman and then attacked her in a bed, slapping her several times and choking her.

Eventually, Nunez pulled the woman by her hair and then threatened to harm her with a small kitchen knife that he held up against her neck, Joliet police announced.

The incident happened around 2:50 a.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Illinois Street, which is part of the city's St. Pat's Neighborhood. Joliet police took Nunez away in handcuffs, on charges of aggravated assault and domestic battery.

"Officers learned that an intoxicated Nunez had become angry at (the woman) and it is believed that he attacked the victim while she slept in bed," Joliet police reports note. "The victim was able to flee the residence from Nunez. Nunez was at the scene and was taken into custody without incident."

Nunez was booked into the Will County Jail at 4:40 a.m. and he was let go around 5 p.m. on Wednesday. He posted 10 percent of his $20,000 bail, jail records show.

As part of his bail, Nunez must stay away from his victim, having no contact with her or her address on Illinois Street, court records reflect.
