Kohl's Repeat Shoplifter Captured During Her 4th Theft: Joliet Police

Joliet police spotted Kaitlyn Rigazio of Morris in the Kohl's parking lot on Route 59, and she began to run, authorities noted.

JOLIET, IL — After committing three prior merchandise thefts, 29-year-old Kaitlyn Rigazio tried to steal more from the Joliet Kohl's store on Route 59 this past weekend, but the incident ended with her running through the parking lot, and Joliet officers taking her away with handcuffs, police reports show.

Now, Rigazio is residing in Will County's Jail where she faces eight charges of retail theft, obstructing a peace officer, obstructing identification and multiple warrants for her arrest. Rigazio was apprehended around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, when Joliet police learned of another retail theft in progress at the Kohl's along Route 59 at Caton Farm Road.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English:

  • The Morris woman was concealing merchandise in a bag as she exited the store.
  • Officers spotted her in the Kohl's parking lot, and she began to run.
  • Officers caught her with the assistance of a citizen.
  • Even though Rigazio gave Joliet police a fake name, officers identified her by her real name.

Joliet police said Rigazio also faces the following warrants for her arrest:

  • Will County failure to appear warrant for possession of stolen vehicle, theft of leased property and possession of controlled substance.
  • DuPage County failure to appear warrant for retail theft.
  • Grundy County failure to appear warrant for possession of controlled substance and for contempt of court.
  • Illinois State of Police failure to appear warrant for unlawful possession of marijuana.

The Joliet Kohl’s loss prevention employees indicated that Rigazio was their suspect in multiple retail thefts at their store on the following dates:

  • Dec. 22, Rigazio was suspected of concealing over $400 of clothes in a bag without paying.
  • Dec. 31, Rigazio was suspected of concealing over $300 worth of clothes in a bag without paying.
  • Feb. 28, Rigazio was suspected of concealing over $900 worth of clothes in a bag without paying.

Will County Jail records indicate that Rigazio has a total bail amount of $107,500. While Joliet police call her a resident of Morris, jail records listed her as having an address in Marseilles.
