Lane Closures On I-80 In Joliet Begin Monday

The Illinois Department of Transportation recommends allowing extra time for trips during the lane closures.

JOLIET, IL — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced there will be lane closures overnight starting Monday, July 22, weather permitting. A release from the department says an ongoing repair project on I-80 is the cause.

Between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. beginning Monday, workers may close a single lane in each direction of traffic on the I-80 bridges over the Des Plaines River when necessary.

Workers will be repairing steel and replacing bearings on the bridges, with most of the work taking place underneath the structures.
