Election Results: Larry Walsh Wins Race for Will County Chief Executive Officer

With 300 of 300 Will County precincts reporting, Lawrence M. “Larry” Walsh has won the race for Will County Chief Executive Officer, according to unofficial results. Walsh took 98,967 votes, or 51.50 percent. Opponent Laurie McPhillips received 93,202 votes, or 48.50 percent.

Walsh was the incumbent nominee. According to his campaign page, he has grown Will County from a rural farming community to a significant player in the global marketplace.

Walsh plans to continue to develop the county’s road systems and technology, citing projects like the I-80 and Houbolt Road Interchange Bridge. He also wants more transparent and comprehensive websites. In addition, he wants to see more economic growth.

In a candidate profile published by the Chicago Sun-Times, McPhillips said her top three priorities were not increasing property taxes, making the government more efficient and addressing road and capital needs in Will County without raising taxes.

McPhillips currently works as a real estate broker for Coldwell Banker. From 2010 to 2012 she was a Will County Board Member for District 3 and from 2004 to 2008 she was elected as the Will County Recorder of Deeds, according to the profile.
