Drive-By Killing In Joliet: SUV Driver Crashes, Dies At Age 27

On Sunday afternoon, Joliet police found the 27-year-old driver dead inside the sport utility vehicle, and he had been shot.

JOLIET, IL — During broad daylight on Sunday afternoon, someone fatally shot 27-year-old Jeffery Faint Jr., as he was driving his sport utility vehicle on the city's east side, near Columbia Street and Henderson Avenue.

Joliet police said the killing happened around 12:20 p.m.

Joliet police were notified of a shots fired call. Officers found that a sport utility vehicle on the southeast corner of the intersection appeared to have been involved in a crash, coming to rest on its passenger side, Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English informed Joliet Patch.

He said that fellow officers found the unresponsive driver inside his vehicle, and he appeared to have been shot. The victim would eventually be pronounced dead at the scene by the Will County Coroner’s Office.

Joliet police detectives and evidence technicians found numerous spent shell casings at the homicide scene and nearby homes sustained damage from gunfire, English said.

"Both the motive and the events leading up to the vehicle crash remain under investigation at this time," English said.

He said the identification of the victim and manner of death will be determined by the Will County Coroner’s Office.

This marks Joliet's second homicide in six days.

During the early morning hours of Monday, Oct. 24, a fist fight and a stabbing happened inside the Spanish American Club, at 413 Meeker Ave. Stabbing victim Jorge Chiguil-Toto, 40, died at Silver Cross hospital.

He was one of two 40-year-old men to get stabbed inside the Spanish American Club bar, and when Toto went outside to rest his body against the building, 30-year-old first-degree murder defendant Jose Aguilar-Moreno ran him over intentionally, according to Will County prosecutor Jeff Tuminello.
