Lesly Reynoso Death: Juvenile Given Probation Sentence
The body of Joliet Central High School student Lesly Reynoso was recovered from the Des Plaines River after she jumped to her death in 2019.

JOLIET, IL — A 17-year-old boy who was charged last November with inducing 16-year-old Joliet resident Lesly Reynoso to kill herself last summer has pleaded guilty and received a three-year probation sentence Tuesday, according to Will County prosecutors.
The juvenile was charged in juvenile court in connection with the August 2019 death of the Joliet Central High School student. The Illinois State Police investigation determined that the 17-year-old boy was present when Lesly jumped to her death at the Interstate 80 bridge over the Des Plaines River.
Her body was later recovered by the Joliet Fire Department.

Last August, Joliet Patch covered the candlelight prayer vigil attended by more than 400 people at the Spanish Community Center near Jackson Street to mourn the loss of Lesly. Her body had been recovered near the Des Plaines bridge the previous day.
Lesly's visibly distraught father, Eduardo, took to the podium and addressed the crowd in Spanish. Afterward, one of the volunteers translated his comments into English, explaining he asked for forgiveness from his daughter "if I did something wrong."
