Light Up The Holidays Parade: Carriage Rides, Market, Skating, More

Friday's event will include a North Pole Market, North Pole Park, horse-drawn carriage rides, the parade and the fireworks show.

JOLIET, IL — One of Joliet's most popular community events is here. Friday's Light Up The Holidays Parade will also feature horse-drawn carriage rides and an outdoor skating rink for families and children.

According to the Joliet City Center Partnership, Friday morning's North Pole Christmas Market will kick off a full day’s worth of holiday events, all taking place within walking distance in downtown Joliet.

Other free Light up the Holidays activities include the North Pole Park across from the Rialto Square Theatre that will include an iceless skating rink, inflatable snow globe and curling lanes. People can also enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides, Joliet’s tree lighting ceremony at the Van Buren PIaza, the hour-long Light up the Holidays Parade and the fireworks show afterward.

  • Chicago Street Lot: In front of the Rialto
  • The park will include an artificial ice skating rink, curling game, and fun photo opportunities.
