Joliet native with rare genetic condition needs some community support. John was born with a genetic abnormality called IDIC15Q . He is one in about 1,500 documented cases worldwide. While the symptoms very from person to person, John deals with global developmental delays, hypotonia (low muscle tone), visual impairment and being non-verbal. John uses a pediatric wheelchair to get to and from school on the bus as he can not safely navigate the bus stairs. He also uses his chair when longevity and safety concerns arise.

The family home is not equipped with a wheelchair ramp and ramps are not covered by insurance. John is currently being carried out to his chair daily and is exposed to the elements while being strapped in and while waiting for the bus. If the home was equipped with a ramp it would reduce his exposure greatly. A GoFundMe page has been started and all donations are appreciated. https://www.gofundme.com/f/let...
