JOLIET, IL — The Will County Sheriff's Office issued a Facebook bulletin indicating that sheriff's deputies are involved in a barricade situation in Joliet's Marycrest area, prompting several schools to go on lockdown.

Around 1 p.m. on Monday, the agency noted that deputies were trying to make a traffic stop in the 200 block of Joliet's Romayne Avenue when the driver crashed, ran off into the neighborhood and hid inside a house.

The sheriff's office said a reverse 911 call went to the area residents in a one-mile area. Marycrest School, Mary Sears Children's Academy and the Joliet Township High School District administrative offices are now on lockdown.
