Lockport Motorist Dies On Joliet I-80 Stretch

It was a single vehicle crash on Monday afternoon.

JOLIET, IL -A 22-year-old woman from Lockport was killed Monday afternoon when her car veered off eastbound Interstate 80, authorities announced. The Will County Coroner's Office said that the crash victim was pronounced dead around 2:30 p.m. She was identified as Jeanine Ibrahim, according to coroner's officials.

The Will County Coroner's Office said the woman was killed near Mile Marker 129 in Joliet.

On Tuesday, the Illinois State Police issued a press release on the fatality. The call about the crash came into police at 1:03 p.m. along I-80 east of Houbolt Road.

"According to preliminary investigations, the Toyota was traveling eastbound on I-80 just east of Houbolt Avenue when, for unknown reasons, it drove off the right side of the roadway, striking a tree and overturning. The driver, Jeanine Ibrahim, was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Will County Coroner. It was reported that Ibrahim was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash," police said.
