JOLIET, IL — This marks the first week of business for a new Joliet restaurant that opened at 318 South Chicago Street. Lou's Barbecue has replaced Joliet's 1st Stop restaurant that was owned and operated by Patrick Fanning during the past two years.

Kytonyo Morgan told Joliet Patch that his son, Kytonyo Jr., is one of the owners. The Joliet restaurant is named after the Morgans' late aunt, Lou, they said.

Kytonyo Morgan told Patch that Monday marked their first day of business. Some of the featured items on the Lou's menu include: The Rose Cheeseburger, ribs, Philly steak and the steak fries.

"We do mostly just tips," Morgan explained. "I'm the signature ribs guy. I season the ribs."

Morgan said that cousin Michael Samuels is also one of the owners of Lou's Barbecue.

Morgan urged customers to be patient with them as they adjust to the new building and opening the new restaurant. On Tuesday, they were asking customers to pay with cash, but Lou's will be accepting credit cards in the days ahead, he added.

Moving forward, Lou's Barbecue will be offering a Soul Food Sunday menu, Morgan noted. Lou's plans to stay open from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. unless they run out of food earlier than that.

"It's first come, first serve," Morgan said.

The phone number to use for placing carryout orders with Lou's Barbecue is 815-409-7295.

Morgan said that the prices on the menu are pretty reasonable. "We aren't going to try to overdo it," he said.

Morgan said he did not want to reveal all the ingredients that make up The Rose Cheeseburger.

"That's something different," he said. "It's something different, trust me."
