Love's Truck Stop Means Joliet's New Lenox Road Closing For 3 Months: City Hall
The City appreciates the public's patience and cooperation during this improvement project.

JOLIET, IL — Joliet's new director of communications Sydney Thompson issued a press release announcing that New Lenox Road will be closed beginning Monday, March 30 to accommodate improvements associated with the Love’s Truck Stop development.
The closure will be in effect between Briggs Street and Oakview Avenue. The roadway is expected to remain closed from March 30, 2026, through June 30, 2026, weather permitting. Please see the accompanying graphic for the detour route.

In February 2025, Joliet Patch reported that as part of the future Loves Truck Stop development, Joliet's extension of water mains and sanitary sewers were starting.
In 2022, Joliet Patch reported that a small group of dedicated east-side neighbors who lived near former Joliet City Councilman Warren Dorris have been successful at stopping construction of the Loves Travel Center approved by the Joliet City Council in October 2018.

However, in 2024, Joliet Patch learned, the neighbors' effort to stop the Love's Truck Stop project finally lost in Will County's judicial system.
Now Loves is ready to bring Joliet its first Loves truck stop and travel center, at the Interstate 80 exit for Briggs Street.
