Man Fatally Shot On Joliet's Far West Side: Roechner

Joliet Police are still determining whether the man was killed or died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

JOLIET, IL - The Will County Coroner's Office announced that a 23-year-old Lockport resident Alexander E. Perez died from a gunshot wound early Wednesday on the city's far west side and said his death is being investigated as a homicide by the Joliet Police Department. The shooting death occurred in the Cumberland South subdivision near County Line Road. Police were called to a residence in the 6800 block of Hadrian Drive after neighbors heard a gunshot.

Interim Chief Al Roechner said the Joliet Police were called to the Cumberland South subdivision shortly before 1:15 a.m. Joliet Police found the Lockport man dead in the driveway. The man had suffered one gunshot wound to his chest. The man did not live at the residence, Roechner said.

He told Patch around 5 p.m. that the detectives are still trying to determine whether the death was a homicide or not.
