Man Shot, Hit by Vehicle in Joliet: Police

The Joliet resident was found dead in Ottawa Street alley Saturday morning.

Joliet police are investigating the death of a man found in an alley Saturday morning as a homicide, according to the Will County Coroner’s office.

A passerby found the Joliet man’s body in an alley in the 500 block of South Ottawa Street at around 8 a.m.

Police said the it initially appeared that the man was the victim of a hit and run, but an autopsy revealed that he had suffered a gunshot wound in addition to being struck by a vehicle, the Herald-News reported.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:45 a.m., according to the coroner’s office. His name was being withheld Saturday night pending notification of next of kin.
