Man Shot On Broadway Street, Gunman Remains At Large

Joliet police say a 32-year-old man was shot early Monday morning at the site of the former Evergreen Terrace public housing.

JOLIET, IL — A 32-year-old man suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds on Monday morning during an overnight shooting at the former Evergreen Terrace property, now known as River Walk Homes.

Police spokesman Dwayne English said the shooting was reported around 1:40 a.m. It happened in the 300 block of North Broadway Street. Officers found the 32-year-old shooting victim on Broadway Street and a Joliet Fire Department ambulance rushed him to St. Joe's hospital.

Officers and evidence technicians conducted an extensive canvas of the area to gather information about the shooting, English said. The gunman got away before Joliet police officers got to the scene. No arrest have been made.

Joliet police said this is an active investigation in its early stages as Joliet Police Detectives work to identify a suspect or suspects.
