Man Stabbed In Car On Larkin Avenue, Woman Jailed

JOLIET, IL — A 20-year-old woman who lives in the 300 block of North Bluff Street on the city's near west side stabbed a man around Larkin Avenue late Sunday night, March 3, and then jumped out the car once she realized the injured man was driving to the hospital, Joliet Police said.

Police officers say they tracked Taja Davis to the Red Roof Inn on McDonough Street and put her in handcuffs. Jail records show she now faces three counts of aggravated battery. The stabbing victim's wounds were not life-threatening.

At 11:52 p.m. on Sunday, officers were flagged down by a man who said he was stabbed and then drove himself to St. Joe's hospital, reports indicate. Officers interviewed him at the hospital to learn what had happened.

"Officers were able to determine that a group of individuals were driving towards the Red Roof Inn when Davis became upset with the victim. Davis pulled out a knife and began to stab the victim. Everyone got out of the car except for the victim and Davis," police reports show.

After being stabbed, the victim hopped into the driver's seat and headed toward the hospital. "Davis then jumped out of the vehicle. Officers were able to locate Davis at the Red Roof Inn and took her into custody," police said.

Davis went before a Will County judge on Monday and after her bail was set at $75,000. So far, she remains unable to come up with 10 percent to post as bond.
