Man Tries To Kill Woman With Pillow: Joliet Police
Joliet police arrested 42-year-old Kenneth Holmes on aggravated domestic battery charges Friday afternoon.

JOLIET, IL — A 42-year-old Joliet man faces charges including aggravated domestic battery after Joliet police say Kenneth Holmes threatened to kill a woman, tried to smother her with a pillow and then attempted to force her inside a bathtub of water.
The domestic violence happened in the 300 block of Water Street during the noon hour on Thursday, according to police. Officers arrested Holmes Friday afternoon at the same residence, charging him with aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery and interfering with the reporting of domestic violence.
According to Joliet police, Holmes and the woman had an argument, and he punched her twice in the head. Afterward, Holmes grabbed her cell phone to stop her from calling 911, police said.

"Holmes then threatened to kill the victim while forcing her head into a pillow. Holmes choked the victim after dragging her into the bathroom. He then attempted to force the victim’s head into a bathtub full of water while further threatening to kill her," Joliet police reports show.
Holmes ran from the house before Joliet squad cars arrived at the emergency, the agency said.

By Friday afternoon, Holmes was back in the 300 block of Water Street and this time he was arrested.
"Officers placed Holmes into custody without incident and he was transported to the Will County Jail," Joliet police announced.
Bail has been set at $75,000 for Holmes, who remained in custody Monday, unable to post the necessary 10 percent.
