Angry Man On Collins Street Threatens To Kill Someone: JPD

Joliet police responded to Rio Grande at 468 Collins Street around 8 p.m. Sunday for a disturbance. Julio Arrieta, 37, was arrested.

JOLIET, IL — A 37-year-old Joliet man from the 200 block of Herkimer Street remains locked away from society at Will County's Jail following Sunday night's disturbance at the Rio Grande, 468 Collins St.

Officers hauled away Julio Arrieta of Joliet in handcuffs on charges of obstructing justice, disorderly conduct, criminal trespass to property, assault, resisting a peace officer, a Will County arrest warrant and a Kane County arrest warrant.

According to Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English, the following events led to Arrieta's arrest:

Around 8 p.m., Joliet police arrived after learning that Arrieta had been asked to leave the store multiple times by staff but refused and continued to enter and exit the store.

Arrieta was seen urinating in the parking lot and he threatened to kill a man who approached him and requested that he leave the premises.

Officers encountered Arrieta, who appeared intoxicated, and he tried to pull away when officers attempted to arrest him. Officers placed Arrieta into custody after a brief struggle.

Arrieta held an active Will County arrest warrant for missing court on previous domestic battery charges and a Kane County arrest warrant for missing court on previous assault charges.

Arrieta was brought to the Joliet Police Department, where he refused to cooperate with booking procedures. He was then taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.

His total bail is listed at $21,000, according to jail logs.
