March to Springfield to Reach Joliet Wednesday
The marchers plan to arrive at the Joliet Iron Works Wednesday evening.

JOLIET, IL — A demonstration march from Chicago to Springfield is expected to arrive at the Joliet Iron Works Wednesday evening.
The March to Springfield started Monday and is scheduled to make it to the capital on May 30, said event organizer Jody Martin. And when they arrive in Springfield, the group plans to get its message across, she said.
“We’re trying to have some organized agitation,” Martin said

“We’re going to shut down Springfield,” she said. “I anticipate some of my friends getting arrested.”
In Joliet, Martin will give a speed at the Iron Works. The group will then head to the Senior Services Center of Will County on Center Street.The marchers are protesting politicians’ failure to pass a “budget that puts people and the planet first,” according to the March to Springfield website.
