Mariano's Grocery Store Evacuated On Route 59
Troy Township Fire Chief Andy Doyle told Joliet Patch that Friday evening's 911 call came in a structure fire.

SHOREWOOD, IL — Troy Township Fire Chief Andy Doyle said that the Mariano's grocery store on Route 59 was evacuated Friday evening, but the incident was not a structure fire as it was initially called in. Doyle said that fire engines from Troy, Minooka, Plainfield, Channahon and Lockport responded to Mariano's at 5:33 p.m.
Doyle said the incident was more of a hazardous materials case. There was a Freon leak in the back part of the supermarket, and the Freon leak created a haze in the backroom of the building.
"Nobody was hurt," Doyle told Joliet Patch's editor.

He said the firefighters were able to ventilate the store. Doyle told Patch he believed that the Mariano's should be able to reopen Friday night, but the cold storage area of the building was in need of repairs.
