Joliet's mayor commented on Facebook that, "There was a lot of concern yesterday about an incident occurring on Kelly Street, please know the situation was taken care of by our JPD officers.

"Yesterday our officers met with a victim who advised that he arranged for sexual favors from a woman he met online. When he arrived at her house in the 800 block of Kelly he went inside and was soon jumped by a group of suspects waiting in another room. The victim left and called police.

"When our officers arrived on scene, the suspects refused to open the door and were yelling at officers from the window. Officers obtained a search warrant to legally enter the residence and, while no gun was seen or alleged, the officers called upon the special operations squad officers that were working on shift, as well as a small number that were off-duty, to bring in additional equipment if needed.

"Fortunately, the suspects quickly complied and came out without further incident once the negotiators began talking with them. All were charged with robbery and other appropriate charges."
