CREST HILL, IL — Wednesday's intense and widespread storm damage didn't just impact thousands of Joliet area homeowners. The iconic Merichka's restaurant at 604 Theodore Street is closed due to a power outage, and the restaurant may remain that way for the coming days.

"Hope everyone didn't deal with much damage from those insane winds," Merichka's posted on their Facebook page. "We are going to have to close today and possibly tomorrow since our power is off. Unfortunately we will have to remake a lot of items and that takes a lot of time. I will keep everyone posted about tomorrow, Friday. Thanks so much for understanding everyone."

However, not all of Merichka's Facebook followers were understanding. One person responded, "We had a funeral luncheon planned for today. Was anyone going to let me know other than over Facebook?"

Merichka's posted a response to the woman's negative comments, saying, "We called and informed a person from the party to let everyone know."

Another follower of Merichka's had this to say: "Seriously. Chill."
